WHAT IS IT? The approximate number of substations within OPPD’s electrical system. Substations are the first step for electricity as it travels from a power plant to a customers home. They “step down” the voltage of the electricity to an amount that is suitable for use in customers’ homes.

Some consider substations the brain of the system. They can vary in size  and have multiple functions.
