What is it?

The number of coal cars delivered by train to OPPD in 2016. Added end-to-end, that number of cars would stretch for more than 570 miles, which is more miles than Denver is from Omaha.

  1. As I recall each of those coal cars contain 100 tons of coal. If my math is correct that equates to 5,520,000 tons of coal delivered to OPPD last year.
    Glad we still have our coal-burning power plants. They are the only remaining centralized power plants left in our service territory after the premature shutdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. Reliable coal & nuclear generation across our country are still the firm backbone of our nation’s electrical grid.
