WHAT IS IT? The average number of visitors to the OPPD Arboretum at 108th and Blondo streets. The facility is popular among photographers, especially in the fall when you will see several photo shoots in progress. Nature enthusiasts and walkers, both canine and human, also enjoy the miles of trails at the arboretum that wind through the foliage. Covering 26 acres, the arboretum displays include:
- An electrical safety education area
- Substation overlook that explains how each part of the substation functions
- Transmission line demonstration where visitors can see vegetation management practices used by OPPD.
- Shelterbelt, wildlife and erosion-control plantings
- Formal planting area
- Outdoor classroom
