OPPD was named one of the Top Veteran-Friendly Companies by U.S. Veterans Magazine (USVM). The magazine polled hundreds of Fortune 1,000 companies to determine its Best of the Best 2020 designations.
Hiring veterans is a key component of OPPD’s talent acquisition strategy.
“One of our department’s goals is to identify opportunities and develop strategic relationships to help us increase the number of military veterans who make up OPPD’s workforce,” said Darlene Brown, a recruiter in OPPD’s Talent Acquisition department.
“Being recognized by USVM is one step toward that goal, because the magazine’s readers may be encouraged to pursue employment at OPPD.”
USVM’s objective is “to open up employment, business and supplier opportunities within the federal government and corporate America for veterans, transitioning service members, disabled veterans, spouses and veteran business owners.”
OPPD CEO and President Tim Burke appreciates those employees who serve or have served in the armed forces.
“Our core values of having a passion to serve, honoring our community and caring about each other definitely apply to our employees currently serving in the armed forces, and to all our military veterans, as well,” said Burke. “While OPPD appreciates this recognition from U.S. Veterans Magazine, we greatly appreciate our employees who served or who are serving our country. Any honors truly go to them.”
