Power lines are power lines, right? Not exactly. So what is the difference between power lines?

Some power lines move electricity at high voltages while others move electricity at lower voltages. These lower voltages power everything inside your home.

OPPD’s electric system includes transmission lines (high voltages) and distribution lines (lower voltages) – both of which serve customers. Each type of line has its own characteristics and jobs.

Meet senior engineer Matt Peterson. He’ll explain the difference between the two and their importance in the electric grid.
