The percentage of electricity providers in the United States that are public power utilities.* In total, there are 3,302 providers nationwide. On average, OPPD needs 11,000 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electrical energy to meet its system requirements.

The second highest number of providers are cooperatives, which make up 26.5 percent. Investor-owned utilities make up 5.7 percent while power marketers stand at 6.6 percent. Federal power agencies are the smallest electricity providers with .3 percent.
