September is National Preparedness Month. The severe storm season may be winding down in the Midwest — we’ve seen more than usual this year — but winter is right around the corner, so it’s a good time to make sure your home and family are prepared for emergency.
You can take control before a disaster strikes by taking a few minutes to gather items you probably already have lying around your house to create a disaster preparation kit.
If you have all of these items ready to go, you won’t waste precious time getting your family to safety when those sirens go off.
