Winter is just around the corner, so now is a great time to double-check your road readiness – both within your car and on the road.
This year, Nebraska will use a new communication program for travelers who encounter adverse weather.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation and the National Weather Service are partnering on a new program that proactively manages transportation before and during adverse inclement weather.
The program is called “Pathfinder,” and it will translate weather forecasts and weather conditions into consistent public travel impact messages.
Pathfinder aims to accomplish two outcomes:
- Provide travelers with consistent road and weather information for safer travel.
- Continue to build relationships among the public and private entities that inform travelers.
Before you head out this winter, make sure you include these items in your car’s emergency kit. With this kit in your vehicle, you’ll be prepared for winter driving surprises.
