Video: ‘Enjoy the challenges that you have, enjoy the learning’

As OPPD marks its 75^th anniversary, we visited with a few retirees and asked them to reflect on their years with the power company.

Here, Jon Hansen talks about the growth of the utility’s generating portfolio and the breadth and depth of the OPPD workforce that brought OPPD plants online and meticulously maintained them.

He also passes along some advice for current OPPD employees.

“Enjoy the challenges that you have, enjoy the learning,” he said. “A lot’s happening in the power industry.”

Hansen worked for OPPD for nearly 35 years, from 1983 to 2018. He started as an engineer and had a hand in all of the OPPD plants. He retired as Vice President – Energy Production & Marketing.
